Academic Expectations
We offer a rigorous college preparatory experience. We are committed to success for each and every student. Below are expectations for students and families to promote school success.
To be successful at MSA all students are expected to:
- Be respectful to themselves and others
- Come to school daily ready to be challenged
- Complete homework assignments daily
- Middle school homework typically takes about 1.5-2 hours a night
- High school homework typically takes about 2-3 hours a night
- Advanced Placement courses generally require additional homework
- Use a planner to organize your assignments
- Check Google Classroom daily
- Prepare for tests
- Develop a plan to complete larger projects in smaller chunks
- Do their part in group projects
- Prioritize school work over extra-curricular activities
- Turn in completed assignments on time
- Let teachers know when they need help or have questions
- Check the gradebook in Skyward regularly
- Understand the Student Handbook and Grading Handbook.
Families are expected to help their students be successful in this academically challenging environment.
We ask caregivers to:
- Provide a place for their student to study
- Check their student’s planner
- Assist their student with organization
- Read daily announcements
- Help their student to prioritize school work over activities
- Check Skyward regularly and reach out to teachers if you have any questions
- Volunteer at MSA in whatever ways possible
- Understand the Student Handbook and Grading Handbook.
All families will be asked to sign and accept these academic expectations annually.
