Dr. Kate Hinton
Executive Director
Dr. Kate Hinton is an educator with 20 years of experience with teaching and administrative roles, and a history of putting students first. Highlights of her career:
- Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Dr. Hinton served as High School Principal for 2.5 years. In that role she implemented professional learning communities, job embedded professional development, and realigned classroom assignments to address crowding and traffic flow in the buildings.
- She is an adjunct instructor at the University of Minnesota's principal licensure program.
- Skilled at staffing, budgeting, and scheduling, plus data driven decision making to develop strong, effective program.
- Academic enrichment as a way to leverage student learning was the topic of her doctoral dissertation.
- Dr. Hinton has served as a consultant for several local districts on how to implement a master schedule that maximizes student learning and resources.
- Prior to her time at MSA, she spent eighteen years at Washington Technology Magnet, a 6-12 STEM magnet in SPPS, promoted from math teacher to coordinator of extended day programs, to assistant principal and master scheduler
